This Month’s Featured Artist Pravin Art’Holic
I was lucky enough to meet Pravin Art’Holic on YouTube a week ago.
His talent mesmerized me. I honestly stopped what I was doing and watched all of his videos.
Besides getting lost when I create art, I also get lost looking at art and watching art come to life.
I know you will enjoy watching these high-speed videos as much as I did.
Enjoy!

N. Pravin is a 21-year-old self-taught illustrator from India who specializes in photographic charcoal pencil portraits and graphite 3D drawings.
N. Paven’s Story.
Hello N. Pavin where are you from?
N. Pavin – “I’m from South India.
State: Tamil Nadu.”
How can people learn more about you and purchase your art?
N. Pavin – “People can directly contact me through e-mail and purchase my artworks for now! My website is in progress!!! For payments, I’m having PayPal account which is easy and secure as well.”
What inspired you to become an artist?
N. Pavin – “Actually, I discovered this God-given gift for me at the age of 14 when I participated in a competition on behalf of my school, and I earned a 1st prize two years in a row. That is when I came to know that I can draw.
Many of my teachers, friends, relatives and even my parents told me to attend some drawing classes in the town, but I literally hated such classes because they are their techniques.
Where are my techniques? I was in an urge to find mine, and I found mine too!
Then came a long period where I didn’t draw. I lost interest in drawing!
Then after joining my college, I decided to be highlighted in any one of the extra-curricular activities. I chose drawing because it was something I was already familiar with. That is when it all started”
What artists inspire you?
N. Pavin – “Actually, to speak frankly, I don’t know of any live artists’ in my town or on the web when I started to draw Portraits!”
What attracted you to graphite?
N. Pavin – “The thing which made me draw black and white drawings with graphite is this following question which raised inside my mind at the age of 15. (What is the artful thing in drawing realistically in colors the same exact thing we see with our naked eye, there’s nothing special, is there? But what if the same scene is seen by the naked eye and drawn realistically in just three colors [1.BLACK-2.GREY-3.WHITE]? Yeah, there is the challenge for me. This is when it becomes a fulfilled art!”
How long have you been creating art?
N. Pavin – “At the age of 20, I was completely into it.”
What are your favorite supplies you use?
N. Pavin – “All My Favorites supplies:
- Cotton Buds.
- Tissue Paper.
- Faber Castle Graphite Pencil.
- Apsara Charcoal Pencil.
- Strathmore 300 series Bristol Paper.
- Derwent Electrical Erasers.
- Charcoal Powder (Hand-made)”
What would you like to say to young artists trying to enhance their skills?
“I never ever followed any artists’ techniques or tips because I hated to learn THEIR way of drawing. I didn’t want to learn someone else’s way of creating art. For those initial successful artists’ on early times, there would be no mentor or teacher before them to teach art or techniques. They learned on their own and became successful. There is no specific path, rule, or way to draw anything in this world.
Nobody can make a SPECIFIC rule, NO one can lay down a SPECIFIC road for (HOW TO DRAW?!? THIS IS THE WAY TO DRAW…! THIS IS THE FORMAT TO DRAW…!)
It’s all about your way of drawing! For all those young artist’ there like me, don’t ever stay on any artists’ or any persons’ self-driven way of drawing!
Make your own easy road to draw! Your only goal is to achieve your complete reference image or your imaginary idea or your live subject on the paper completely.
Do whatever process, make whatever way to achieve that!
On practices, stick to the easiest and efficient one, and then get used to it. Follow your way of drawing on all of your drawings, and make it as your style! This is my way which I’m following in my career.
Hope it’d be useful for you too! For any doubts, feel free to contact me, thanks. God Bless!
Don’t forget to subscribe to his channel so you can watch more of his art come to life.”
If you enjoy N. Paven’s art, be sure to share this with your friends.
