You have probably already discovered how much work is involved in selling art online.
The concept is easy.
Create art, upload images of your art on an art gallery, sell the art, ship the art and repeat.
It does sound easy, doesn’t it?
The challenge is to drive your target audience to your online art gallery.
This is where the work begins.
Organic Search
To begin, I would like to talk about how people will reach your artist website. There are several ways this happens, organic traffic (search), Referral (links), direct (URL) and social (social media).
In the beginning, most of your traffic will probably be generated by links you post on your social media sites and the friends you tell.
If you focus on SEO and a content marketing strategy the majority of your traffic will eventually come from search results. And if done correctly you can see thousands of page views a week.
Importance of Blogging
I have been involved with online sales for over fifteen years and I have seen a lot of changes.
One thing that I have seen that is consistent, is that search results will be one of your main traffic sources.
Yes, you can build your social media following and you will get some likes, shares and nice comments, but most of your traffic will come from search results. This has not changed in fifteen plus years and I do not see it changing anytime soon.
How do you get more search traffic?
The answer is simple, rank high in the search results.
The higher you rank for keywords that target your niche, the more traffic you will receive.
How do you rank higher in the search results?
You have to write a lot of valuable content that relates to your niche.
By doing so Google and other search engines will see you as an authority for your niche and start ranking your site higher in the search.
The end result is lots of free traffic.

The Truth About Blogging
The truth is, if you want to make money from your blog and selling your art online you will have to put in the work.
It takes a lot of work to develop a successful blog that will have you rank higher in the search results.
The end result is that you will be selling more art than you ever thought possible.
Here is a video of some successful artists who build their online art business with the help of blogging.
Why Blogs Fail
Blogs fail because of a lack of planning.
Many artists ask me, “Why doesn’t my blog have any traffic?”
The first question I ask them is, “How bad do you want it?”
I then ask them, “What is your plan?”
No one will see results if they do not want to put in the effort or have a strategy.
First, you must have a vision of what you want to achieve.
Next, write out your goals.
Then, develop a strategy that will have you accomplish your goals.
The Excuse
Let’s take some time to discuss the two main excuses I hear over and over.
Number One – I don’t have time.
We all have the same twenty-four hours in a day.
What separates people is the responsibilities and priorities we have.
Some people are working two jobs to make ends meet.
Some people have children that take up most of their days.
Other people like to spend their time on Facebook.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I do not care how busy you are, I want to tell you that you can build a successful art blog and you can sell your art to people around the world.
You just have to plan.
The great thing about selling art online is that you do not have a set schedule.
You do not have to block off hours at a time to be productive.
You just have to figure out how you can get the most done in the least amount of time and what the best times are for you to get the job done.
I have written an eBook and developed a content marketing course that will help make the work easier for you.
All of the planning is done for you, all you have to do is follow the steps and put in the work.
Most of the time is wasted by researching different ways to help grow your blog. The eBook and course will get you right into what works no more wasted time.

The second excuse I hear is, “I don’t have enough money.”
This is a valid excuse. Most artists just starting out do not have a lot of extra money for courses, eBooks, advertising and tools for blogging.
We all started where you are, struggling to make it work.
The good news is that blogging is relatively inexpensive.
There are free blogging platforms you can use like Blogger or you can build a site with WordPress for free, all you will have to do is pay for hosting and a domain name.
So how can you build a successful blog without spending money on courses or eBooks?
You will have to put in extra time for learning and trying out different ideas to see if they work.
It doesn’t cost you anything to put in the work.
You will just have to decide how valuable your time is.
If it is worth it to purchase courses so you do not have to put in all of the extra hours researching then that is what you should do.
If you do not have the extra money to spend on courses sign up for my newsletter.
Conclusion:
The truth about growing your art blog is it is work.
Take some time, in the beginning, to develop a plan that works best for your schedule and stick to it.
In time you will see your traffic and art sales increase.
