Are finding that there are some people that can just bring your spirits down while others can boost your creative energy? There is some truth about surrounding yourself with positive people and being more productive.
Surrounding Yourself With Positive People
You have probably heard the saying, “Surround yourself with positive people.” It might sound cliché, but it is true. Positive people will give you energy. They will keep you motivated. They will support your dreams.
Have you ever been so excited about a new idea that you had, and you wanted to share it with the world? The first opportunity to share your exciting news with is “Mr. Grumpy”. You are hesitant to tell Mr. Grumpy, but you are so excited about this new idea you have to tell someone, anyone. Even if it is “Mr. GRUMPY”.
You have a big smile on your face, and you are exploding with energy and excitement. When you first start sharing your story, you are speaking so fast because you are anxious to hear his thoughts. As you are telling your exciting news, you are observing his facial expressions, and you listen to him sigh over your words. Your words start to slow down. Your energy is diminishing. You do not want to continue because you know what you are about to hear will be negative and crush your dreams.
When you first started telling your story, you were standing tall and almost dancing. At the end of the conversation, your shoulders sink like a dog that knows he just did something wrong.
Your exciting new idea is now a thing of the past. You are afraid to tell anyone else because you cannot bear to have the same response that you have received from Mr. Grumpy. You do not act on your thoughts, and you start to become hesitant with any new ideas that you have.
Let’s create a different story. It will be the same scenario but instead of the first person, you tell being Mr. Grumpy you tell your story to Mrs. Sunshine.
Mrs. Sunshine is a person that can put a smile on everyone’s face. Her favorite words are, “I love it” and I am so happy for you, you will do great.” When she listens, she focuses on every word. She loves to watch people grow and become successful. She celebrates with you when you accomplish something, and she supports you when something does not go as plan.
After you have finished sharing your exciting news with Mrs. Sunshine, you find yourself dancing in the street. You are so excited to start your new project. With this positive energy, you will succeed. You will do whatever it takes to get to the finished line.
Two different stories with two different outcomes. What story would you like to be in? Would you like to feel like the sad dog or would you like to feel supported?
Life is short and there is no time to waste with people who bring you down. Surrounding yourself with positive people will help you to reach your goals.
