“Content curation is not a new phenomenon. Museums and galleries have curators to select items for collection and display. There are also curators in the world of media, for instance, DJs of radio stations tasked with selecting songs to be played over the air.”

Michael starts off by explaining the value of sharing content. Not only is the content-free, but you will also be sharing valuable content for your audience.

How often have you visited your Facebook newsfeeds and clicked on a post that one of your friends has shared?

Have you ever shared a post that you found interesting to your friends?

What you are doing is curating content. You have found something interesting, and you felt your family and friends on your Profile Page would also enjoy the content.

For example, let’s say you have an eye for decorating rooms. You know what colors would accent the walls and décor of a room entirely. You could share all of your tips and suggestions as well as content you find helpful to your audience.

Make sure you always give full credit to the author and a link back to the article you found the content from. Curating content is meant to support your thoughts or offer value to the reader.

The more you get to know your target audience and learn what interests them, you will be able to provide shareable content to them. Your audience will start to go to you for information that relates to your niche and recognize you as a specialist in your field.

One of the best ways to build trust with your audience is by helping them with the problems they have. Curating content is an excellent way to address your reader’s concerns and questions. For example, if your niche is about oil painting, you could curate content about supplies, caring for supplies, canvas size, and product brands.

You could also include posts about how to frame art, how to protect your artwork, and what colors work well together in a room.

I like to link to the author as well as the article and site where I gathered the content. Let the author now you included them in your post. They might even share your post with their audience expanding your views.

Call to Action

Make the most out of your content, whether it is curated content or all original content, include a clear call to action for your readers. What would you like your reader to do after they have finished reading your post?
