Social Media Engagement Strategy That Works

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn

Are you posting regularly on your social media sites?

Are you happy the results that you are receiving?

If you are only receiving one or two likes or just a few shares here and there, you are not alone.

Developing a social media engagement strategy will help you increase your social media engagement and online sales.

Social Media Engagement Strategy

Social media networks are a great tool for you to market your art and to connect with people who are interested in your artistic style.

But social media networks were not created for businesses to bombard people with advertisements.

Social media sites were created for people to connect and socialize.

Companies that only promote products on social media channels will fail.

One of the most important social media marketing rules is to be personable.

Many artists and business forget that people are not visiting their favorite social media channel to shop.

They are on social media to be social and connect with other people who have the same interests they have.

Even though social media marketing is harder today than ever, you can succeed on your social media channels when you have a balance of sharing stories about your brand and showcasing your art for sale.

What Is Social Media Engagement

Social media engagement is when a person interacts on your posts or business page by:

  • Follows
  • Shares
  • Likes
  • Comments

Why should you track engagement metrics?

Tracking your engagement metrics will allow you to measure the effectiveness of your marketing strategy and social media campaigns.

For example, if you post an image of your new painting with no text and nobody likes, comments, or shares the post you know that your audience is not interested in just an image of your paintings.

This does not mean they did not love your painting. It simply means that they feel your post is worth taking the time to engage.

Let’s be honest. How many posts are in your newsfeed?

Do you engage in every post?

I would bet you don’t.

I don’t think there is enough time in a day to comment on every post in your newsfeeds.

How can you increase the amount of engagement your social media accounts receive?

Track your engagement metrics and discover what your audience wants to see in their newsfeed. Once you know what works keep implementing that strategy.

If it doesn’t work, discard it and try something different.

Learn More About Your Audience

Would you like to be more effective in building your brand on social media networks?

If you do, you need to stop thinking like most businesses.

Many companies develop social media strategies in the wrong way.

They analyze the best time to post, how many images they should post, how long videos should be, and how many posts should be posting before they promote a sale.

All of the information they collect is important and could be beneficial as long as their strategy works for their unique audience.

The keywords are “works for their unique audience.”

If your following does not like to spend time watching videos, they will not engage and share your posts.

If your following would rather watch a video instead of reading text they will not engage and share your text posts.

If your audience is online at 6:00 am and you post at 6:00 pm they will not see your post.

You can see where I am going with this.

Instead of looking at social media statistics spend your time learning about your unique audience. The people who will be purchasing your artwork and handmade crafts.

How can you learn more about your audience?

There is a lot of valuable information you can gather from visiting your Facebook Insights.

Facebook Insights shows you the average age of your followers, where they live, what time they are online and so much more.

What should you learn about your audience?

  • Age
  • Education
  • Demographics
  • Career
  • Income
  • Hobbies
  • Lifestyle
  • Where do they hang out offline and online?
  • What is their lingo?

Why should you take the time to learn all of the personable information listed above?

The information you collect will make it easier for you to create content that will connect with them on a more personable level.

In time you will build their trust and they will become a part of your tribe and help you by sharing your content with their friends and family.

If You Want More Engagement, You Need To Engage

If you want more people engaging in your posts, you will need to engage with them.

Would you continue to text a friend if they never texted you back?

People visit their favorite social network because they are interested in socializing.

Talk to them, and ask them questions.

People love to talk about their interests and beliefs.

If you start the conversation, you will make it easier for your fans to engage back on your posts.

They will feel as if they are getting to know you and will want to support your posts in the future.

The secret to being successful on social media networks is to be social.

It is that simple.

Now go and ask how your fans are doing.

A social media engagement strategy is not rocket science, all you have to do is be yourself, get to know your audience and let your audience get to know you.

How Artists Fail With Social Media

Many artists do not put in the time or effort required to benefit from social media platforms.

They sign up for too many accounts and only post items for sale.

It makes sense that they are only posting items for sale because they do not have the time in the day to use the platforms properly.

Successful artists only focus on one or two different social media sites at a time.

Always remember that people do not visit their favorite social media sites to see advertisements or to be sold to.

They want to escape from the real world for a period of time and enjoy some time with their friends.

Respect your audience’s time by sharing entertaining and valuable information about you and your art business.
