Day 6 Blogging Challenge How to Showcase Art

Today’s blogging challenge is to promote one of your pieces of art you have listed for sale on your art gallery.

You might be thinking, “Why do I have to write about a piece of art I already have listed for sale.”

You want to write a blog post because you want to create as many possible gateways pointing to that piece of art. You need more than one door for people to pass through. Create a hundred doors. You want to make it easy for people to find you when they are in the shopping frame of mind.

Today’s Action Plan

First, you will need to decide on one piece of art you would like to write about. Pick something that means something special to you. You want the reader to feel connected to the piece of art you are showcasing. If you can do that, they will be more apt to purchase it when they have finished reading the post.

After you have decided on one piece of artwork you will be showcasing for this post, ask yourself these questions.

  • What inspired you to create it?
  • Where did you create it?
  • When did you create it?
  • How long did it take you to finish the project?
  • What is the story behind your project?
  • What feelings do you get when you look at it?

On a scrap piece of paper answer the questions above. It doesn’t have to be perfect at this point. You just want to write some key points for later.

Post Structure

I am going to go over a post structure for your artwork posts. You can tweak it to your liking.

  • Image
  • Title
  • Story
  • Smaller image
  • Title
  • Artist name
  • Date created
  • Dimensions
  • Price
  • Buy Now Button
  • Shipping Details
  • Return Policy
  • FAQ

Title

Take some time to think of a perfect title for this post. Think about what someone might type in the search engines if they are looking for your art to purchase.

The title should accurately describe the post with keywords. You want to attract the right audience. You want to attract people who are interested in buying what you are selling.

Image

The image first image should be the highlight of the post. You want the reader to be attracted to the picture. Showcase your best photo and make it large and brilliant.

Make sure the image resembles your art. You do not want the buyer to be shocked or disappointed when they open their package.

Story

Now it is time to write your story. Take out the notes that you have written previously and start putting your feelings on the computer screen. Think of your computer screen as a blank canvas. The outcome should tell a story, be vibrant, emotional and sentimental just like your artwork.

Smaller image(s)

After your story, add more pictures of your artwork, These pictures can be smaller and should showcase your art at different angles so the viewer can see the texture of the piece.

A close-up image of the art has been shown to work well for some artists.

A bonus would be for you to stage your art on a wall or shelf. This will allow the viewer to get an idea of how it will look in their home.

  • Title
  • Artist name
  • Date created
  • Dimensions
  • Medium

Include the title of the art, your name, when it was created, what medium you used and the dimensions.

  • Price
  • Link to where they can purchase the art

Always include the price and a link to direct them to a landing page where they can make the purchase.

I have found it to be easier to keep track of inventory from one place instead of having multiple ways a buyer can buy the same item.

All you have to do is add a link to your art gallery where they can make the purchase.

Underneath the price, include a message that says, “Click to see if this is still available, prices are subject to change without notice.” (You can word this whatever way you want. Just make sure you are consistent with all of your posts.)

You might also want to consider advertising prints if you offer them for the piece you are showcasing.

The next section should include information on these subjects:

  • Shipping Details
  • Return Policy
  • FAQ

You should already have a section on your art gallery for these three topics. (If you don’t I would recommend you do so.) Just add links to the posts so the reader can quickly gather any information they need to make a purchase.

Conclusion:

Congratulations on providing another gateway for people to find your work. In the future, you will want to add a story to all of the art you have listed. Intertwine them with your other posts so your audience does not feel like you are only trying to sell to them.
