Finding time for fun in your busy life can often be overlooked. You need to schedule fun time.
Professional artists work around the clock just like any business owner. Business owners have a passion for what they do. That is one reason that they work around the clock. They also have a burning desire to succeed and have their business grow. Unfortunately, all work and no play can lead to a whole host of problems. Burnout, stress, fatigue, mental and physical health issues are to name just a few. Schedule fun time; for your health and the health of your business.
Schedule Fun Time
- Schedule fun time weekly. Not monthly, not annually but weekly. This could be a special day with your family. Schedule some relax time every day to help you unwind and get your mind off of work. Schedule something special monthly, quarterly and annually as well. This gives you something special to look forward to. You’re an entrepreneur so that you can have freedom and control over your schedule right? Would you choose to work 24/7? Of course not, so schedule fun time into your life just like you plan work.
- Work in the moment and live in the moment. This makes working hard and playing hard easier to do. When you’re working, give your all every minute. Strive always to get everything accomplished that needs to get done. Do not procrastinate. Procrastinating only leads to extra hours that you could be spending with your family.
When it’s time to play have fun and let go. Be the person you are in the real world, not the business person you are at work. Don’t think about work or what you could or should be doing. Living in the moment is something that takes practice; however, the rewards are well worth it. Your time will be much more rewarding, productive and enjoyable whether you’re working or playing.
- Reward yourself. Give yourself more than just a pat on the back for a job well done. Reward yourself. Do the things you enjoy doing. If you love dancing, go dancing. If you love hiking in the woods, go hiking in the woods. List the things you like/want to do that are fun, and do them. Just like you’d make a task list and check things off as you accomplish them, make a list of the fun things you like and want to do and check them off as you do them. A bucket list gives you something to look forward to and to motivate you to work harder during your working hours.
Experts from around the world and the most successful people you’ve ever met do take the time to have fun. Schedule fun time and watch your business grow. Plan it into your day, your week, your month and your year. You’re a business owner, and that gives you the freedom to take vacations when you want to, to take a day off when you want to and to have a little bit of fun right smack dab in the middle of the day without risking your job or angering your boss. You are the boss. You work hard, right? Play hard too. Your family, friends and your sanity will thank you for it.
