I have been asked by many people, “How can I increase traffic to my blog and online art gallery.” For as long as you own your online art gallery you will be on a quest for finding more traffic. After all, you are writing blog posts to drive more traffic to your gallery.
The problem most people have is they post and forget. After a few days pass by they are frustrated because they do not see an increase in their traffic. If you want people to find you, you will have to promote your articles. In time your posts will start to receive organic reach from Google’s search, but in the beginning, you will have to give it a jumpstart.
Some artists only promote their online art gallery home page or their blog’s home page. It is fine to promote the home page, but there is much more that can be done. You can reach a larger audience by creating more gateways to your blog and gallery. This can be achieved by promoting individual articles you write as well as landing pages for your artwork.
How to Promote Your Blog Post
Promoting posts is not a one-time task that you throw on the back burner and forget about. You will want to design a plan that will help you to continue promoting older posts.
Here are some ways that you can promote your work.
Email Newsletter
The first step you should take is sending your new posts and artwork to your email list. Your email list is a group of people who are interested in what you have to say. There are many artists out there that have collected emails and never sent a newsletter. What is the point of receiving emails if you are never going to send an email?
Your email list is the most compelling aspect of your business. Your list is the only thing that you own and a guaranteed way for you to stay in contact with people who are interested in your artwork.
Build your email list and share all of your posts with your audience. If you did not send the list post you have written a couple of days ago, do it now. Emailing your blog post will only take a few moments.

Social Media
Social media is a perfect place for you to share your newest blog posts. What social networks are you using to promote your artwork? Are you on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn? Publish your post on all of them. Make sure that you always include a link to the post so your audience can be redirected to the page.
You will start to notice as your following grows on your social networks, the shares and engagement from your articles will increase. You will not see a ton of shares on every post so do not get discouraged. However, you will start to see a gradual increase in your social shares over time.
Follow Up Posts
Write a new blog post that contains more helpful information that supports a previous article you wrote. Include an internal link from the older post to the new post.
For more information about internal links read, Use Internal Links to Increase Art Blog Traffic.
Not only will you be providing value for your audience but you will also increase your blog traffic. Google also rewards sites that keep their audience on their site for a longer amount of time.
You can also include at the end of the post, “You might also be interested in.” Link to other articles that support the topic you wrote about. If the reader is searching for more information, you will be making it easy for them. That is a great way for you to build a loyal reader.
SideBar
Promote articles you have recently published on your website’s sidebar. If you are using WordPress for your site’s platform, you will be able to find plugins that will do this automatically for you.
When your readers are reading a post, they will be able to see other posts they might be interested in on the side of the page.
There are also “Most Popular Post” plugins that are available. This plugin will display your most popular posts on your sidebar.
Social Bookmarking
Digg and StumbleUpon are social bookmarking sites that could lead to fantastic page views. All you have to do is submit your posts to these sites and hope that your post reaches the first page.
Not every post will go viral, but you will be able to reach a new audience with social bookmarking platforms.
Today’s Action Plan
Today start promoting your blog posts using the tactics listed above. Develop a weekly schedule that you can batch this project so you be more productive with your time.
