Procrastinating will kill your dreams. No matter what you want out of life will be crushed by procrastinating, that is the power of procrastination.
Power of Procrastination
Procrastination is your enemy. Procrastination is what will make your fail. Time management will build your business while procrastination will close your business.
We are all human, and we all have specific things that we would rather not do.
How many people do you know get excited going to the dentist? Regular dentist visits are something that has to get done if you would like to keep all of your teeth.
How many people do you know that do the happy dance when it is time to clean the toilet? I have yet to meet one. But the toilet has to get cleaned.
There are only three actions that can be taken with those dreadful chores. Don’t do it; that is procrastinating, get the job done as quickly as possible, that is time management, and the last choice is to delegate the job to someone else.
Most people that start a business do not have extra money to hire someone to do the jobs that they do not like to do. In the future when you have a strong business you will be able to invest into your business. You will be able to hire people to do specific jobs so you can spend more time on building your business. Until that day comes you will need to bite the bullet and do the jobs that are less enjoyable.
Procrastination will not only have a negative effect on your business, but it will also affect your health. While significant projects are falling through the cracks, your stress will be climbing. Art has to be created. Supplies have to be maintained. Supplies have to be ordered. Engaging with people has to take place. Emergencies have to be dealt with. Products have to be shipped. Content has to be written. Websites have to be updated. Accounting has to be up to date, and so on…
The more that you procrastinate, the deeper the hole will become; until one day you cannot climb out. Your business has failed.
I look at it this way, every job that I accomplish today makes my business stronger tomorrow. No matter what the job is. If I achieve it today, my business is more substantial tomorrow. That mind frame helps me to stay on track. I never put off something to a later date just because I do not want to do it. This is my career. This is the future for my wife and me. If I do not do it, no one else will. The only people that will suffer from me procrastinating is my wife and me. I would never do that to my wife; I love her too much to jeopardize our future.
I want you to take some time to think about what matters the most to you. What will motivate you to accomplish every job that needs to get done? What will make you look at every job as a blessing instead of a going to a dentist appointment?
When you have your motivation, I want you to write it down. Look at what you have written down every day for 21 days. It takes 21 days of repetition to become a habit. After the 21 days, you will have your motivation built into you from morning until night. There will be no jobs that you will put off until tomorrow. You will know that that any job that you do not do will only be affecting you in a negative way.
Wake up every day saying to yourself, “I am grateful to have an art business.” Go to bed every night saying, “Everything that I have accomplished today is going to make my business stronger tomorrow.”
