Did you ever wonder why some artists seem to be everywhere online? Do you ever ask yourself, “how did those artists get so lucky?” I want to tell you that luck has nothing to do with it. In this post, I would like to talk about how it takes hard work to sell fine art online not luck.

It Takes Hard Work To Sell Fine Art Online Not Luck

Have you heard about the Law of Attraction?

In the New Thought philosophy, the Law of Attraction is the belief that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, people can bring positive or negative experiences into their life. The belief is based on the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy, and that through the process of like energy attracting like energy a person can improve their own health, wealth, and personal relationships. (Source: Wikipedia)

Some people live by the Law of Attraction while others feel that it does not exist.

I am not here to tell you to believe in the Law of Attraction or not, but what I would like to touch on is that all successful people have similar characteristics that you can learn to have.

Successful people are not successful because they are luckier than others.

Rich people do not just think about being wealthy and an abundance of money appears in their bank account overnight.

Healthy people are not healthy because they sit in a reclining chair all day eating potato chips thinking they are at the perfect weight.

Successful people are where they are because they have a vision of what they want out of life, believe they can have it and work hard to get it.

It is really that simple.

If you have a clear vision of what you want, believe you can have it and do not stop trying until you receive it you will be successful.

All of the artists you see on social media, Pinterest, YouTube and search engines are there because they have a vision and they work hard.

You can have the same success.

How To Sell Art Online And Make Money

Let’s take a look at what it takes to sell fine art online.

I am going to talk briefly about all of the steps I have taken to get to where I am today.

Over 16 years ago I had a vision of selling art. The problem I faced was that I lived in a small town. There were not many options available for me to sell my art at craft shows or galleries.

I was talking to a friend one night and he suggested that I try to sell my art on eBay.

I never heard of eBay at that time and I didn’t even have a computer but I was very interested in what he was saying.

Below are the steps I have taken over the past 16 years. You will notice that most of the steps are repeated.

Clear vision

My journey started with a clear vision of what I wanted.

I knew that I wanted to sell my art. I didn’t know how I would be able to but I knew that is what I wanted to do.

By having that clear vision I was able to connect with people who could give me different options like my friend who suggested selling on eBay.

Develop Plans

In the beginning, I knew the importance of developing plans.

I broke everything down into specific goals and develop strategies that would help me to achieve my goals.

A vision without action is just a dream.

Take Action

Instead of just dreaming of selling my art I took action even though I was living in a small town which had the cards stacked against me.

I took my friends advice, purchased a computer, learned how to use the computer and researched how to sell products on eBay.

It takes more than having a vision and jotting down a few ideas.

You have to take action and put in the work.

I want to be very clear that not every plan you put into action is going to give you the results you were hoping for.

This brings me to the next step.

The Will To Learn

You will have to dedicate time every week to learn how to be an art marketing expert if you want to sell original art online.

You have all of the information right at your fingertips you just need to block off some time for studying.

What is the best way to learn?

In my opinion, the best way to learn is by studying the results of the strategies you have put into action.

You are going to find endless amounts of strategies online and the strategies presented will continue to change because the internet is continuing to change.

It is important for you to know that you will not see success with every action you put into place.

However, you will win the game by adjusting and fine-tuning your strategies along the way.

If something is working keep doing it. When an approach does not produce the results you were hoping for, discard it and work on a different strategy.

Believe in Yourself

There are going to be people who support you and there are going to be people who will not believe in your dreams. None of that matters.

The only person you have to answer to is yourself.

Believe in your dreams and vision.

Do not judge your success to another’s success.

The only question you have to answer is, “Am I happy where I am today?” If you’re not, make changes if you are satisfied, continue doing what you are doing.

Conclusion:

It takes more than dreaming to become successful.

Success comes from a combination of dreaming, believing and taking action.

It is your life, enjoy the journey and travel the path you want to travel.
