Are you wondering what is new with Instagram? In this post, I am going to talk about Instagram Stories coming to desktop and what it means for your online art business.
Instagram Stories Coming To Desktop
You might have already heard that Facebook stories are coming to desktop users. There is more, Instagram has also announced that soon users will be able to view Instagram stories on the desktop as well.
This makes sense because Facebook owns Instagram. If a strategy works for one platform, Facebook will apply the same strategy to the other platform.
Before we talk about how it will benefit you, let’s talk about how Stories is performing for Instagram.
According to Michelle Castillo, “Instagram Stories now has 250 million daily active users as of June 2017.
Its main competitor Snap just has 166 million daily active users, as of its last earnings report in May 2017.”
These are some amazing statistics sense Instagram Stories launched in August 2016. In just under one year Instagram took the lead over its competitor Snapchat.

How Will Instagram Stories Affect Your Art Business
If you are implementing Instagram Stories into your social media marketing plan, you will have an opportunity to reach more people after Instagram Stories reach the desktop.
In the beginning, Facebook wanted Instagram to be purely a mobile app. But let’s be realistic if Facebook can grow its audience on Instagram by allowing desktop users to experience the same features as on mobile why wouldn’t they make the change?
After all, they are making money by people seeing adds. The more people they can attract to Instagram, the more money they will make. Now instead of limiting their audience by only catering to mobile users, they can also target people who do not use or have access to mobile devices.
This change will open the door for you as well. You too will be able to reach a larger audience.
Posting On Instagram Via Desktop
As of now, I have not heard of any way you can upload images or stories on Instagram via a desktop.
I do predict this to change in the future if this new launch is successful.
It would only make sense to allow desktop users to be able to enjoy all of the features a mobile user has.
If this happens, it will open many opportunities for you to be able to be creative with your Instagram stories.
I will keep you posted with any updates I come across.
Conclusion:
Social media is constantly changing and you will need to keep up with the changes if you wish to continue to see your online art business continue to grow.
Instagram Stories coming to the desktop, start planning a strategy to grow your following.
