I was not familiar with blogging when I started and if I were to guess fine art blogs were scarce.
However, if I knew back then what I know now I would have started an art blog 16 years ago.
What I didn’t realize in the beginning was that the internet was driven by text.
I was able to drive a lot of traffic to my first artist website because there was not a lot of content for artwork at the time.
The problem artists face today is with all of the content being posted on a daily basis, it is becoming more and more difficult for businesses of all sizes to be noticed.

Businesses who write the most valuable content win the race. Their website and posts will rank high in Google’s search results which in turn drives traffic back to their site.

Pillar content is content that will live on forever. It is valuable information that does not age.
They are the articles, or posts that you write, that makes you so excited to publish and share on your social media networks.
Pillar content is the content that is so valuable to the readers that they bookmark the post and revisit it over and over.
It is content that the readers find it necessary to share with their friends.
These articles are often longer than usual posts and filled with detailed information.

Taking the time to blog will help you to sell your artwork online for free.
You will not have to pay for someone to market your business or pay a commission for someone to sell your art.
The only thing blogging will cost you is your time.

The good news is that everything that you do today will help you to build your business for years to come.
Unlike social media, your blog posts will be searchable for as long as you have them published.
