Content For Your Art Business

Are you frustrated because it seems like only your friends and family are visiting your online art gallery? Do you have an art blog?

In this post, I will talk about the importance of good content for your art business.

The blog posts for your art blog will be the fuel that drives traffic to your website to sell your artwork.

The Importance Of Good Content

The Internet has changed the way artists conduct business, market their artwork, and is a great tool to build an art career.

The importance of good content for the growth of your business can not be emphasized enough.

In the past, many people found that they could make money on the Internet by creating a web page that was simply a link that encouraged a reader to purchase an item.

Google soon realized that these advertisement web pages frustrated people and created a sophisticated algorithm to weed these web pages out of the search index.

What ranks higher now in the search results are sites that create the best content to solve a reader’s problem.

The success of your website is determined primarily by its content. Ultimately, content wins the wallets of your customers. All other components of your website (design, visuals, videos, etc.) provide a secondary support role. (Source: Intechnic)

Good Content Definition

Useful content should be at the core of your marketing. … Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. (Source: Content Marketing Institute)

The keywords are:

Valuable – Does the post provide value for the reader?

Relevant – Is the post relevant to the title of the post and the brand of the business?

Consistent – Is content being delivered on a consistent schedule?

You know what good content is, but what will make a reader revisit a site regularly?

A blog post can only be valuable and relevant if the reader can understand the text.

If the blog consists of words that will need to be looked up for the definition, the writer is not getting their message across. Bottom line the blog has no value.

When a blog has slang that the reader has never heard before, the blog has no value.

If a reader has to read between the lines to understand a post’s meaning, the words have no value.

Good content meaning:

  • Valuable
  • Relevant
  • Consistent
  • Understandable
  • Easy to remember

Writing blog posts will drive traffic to your site via a Google search, but great content will inspire the reader to revisit the site for more value.

Content Marketing Benefits

Now that you know what good content means, let’s talk about the benefits of blogging.

Good content will have you:

  • Rank higher in the search results
  • Build trust with your readers
  • Show that you are an expert in your field
  • Build your artist brand
  • Build brand awareness
  • Increase your art sales

The more content that you create, the more you will be able to grow your business.

Do not be like other artists that post their new art for sale and forget about it.

They are losing potential sales. Instead, create content to have your artwork seen.

I do want to disclose that it does take time for blogs to gain an audience.

There is a lot of content that is being published on a daily basis.

Over 3 million blog posts are published on the Internet every day. (Source: Hosting Facts )

Final Thoughts On The Importance Of Good Content
