The way people are using Pinterest is changing.

Just a few years ago it was important to build a following on Pinterest but today’s generation focuses on discovering information or products through search.

Is brand loyalty a thing in the past?

I think a smart marketing strategy incorporates both building brand awareness and optimizing content, blogs, and websites for search.

Some eye-opening statistics are showing the way people are finding content on Pinterest.

  • 97% of search terms on Pinterest are unbranded.
  • 72% of Pinners say that Pinterest has introduced them to a new brand or service.

Even though there is a change in the way people discover content on Pinterest does not mean that you should ignore your Pinterest profile.

Use your profile to let people who you are and what type of content you pin.

Promoting your Pinterest profile with links from your website and emails will also help you to generate traffic to your blog.

There are many ways to promote a blog and you should take advantage of all of them.

Your art sales will rise when your artist blog and website traffic increases.

The content you write will be the fuel that drives traffic to your blog.

How To Setup Your Pinterest Profile

The information you provide on your Pinterest profile page will not only explain to new viewers what you are pinning but it will also help you with Pinterest’s (SEO) search results.

Here are some areas you will want to focus on:

Image – Upload an image that brands your art business. It could be a professional image of yourself, your logo, or even an image of your artwork.

Website Link – Pinterest allows you to add a link to your website or blog. Take advantage of this and use it.

Local Business – If you run a local art business you can enter a location. If you are just selling your art online you can leave it off.

Confirm Your Website – You will have extra features when you claim your website so be sure to take a minute to do so. You will be able to see how pins from your site are doing, add a profile picture to all pins from your site, as well as the ability to try new tools and features.

For information on how to confirm your website visit Claim Your Website.

Highlight Best Boards – You can set up a carousel that highlights 5 of your best boards. When someone visits your profile page they will see the boards you are promoting.

For information on how to set up your carousel visit Showcase.

Your profile page should reflect the brand of your art business.

You want people to recognize you on all of the platforms you are marketing on.

If you have not developed a brand for your business I recommend you start their first. Everything you do online should reflect your brand and help you to achieve your goals.

Pinterest Keywords

Marketing your business on Pinterest starts with keywords.

Keywords are ideas and topics that define what your content is about. In terms of SEO, they’re the words and phrases that searchers enter into search engines, also called “search queries.” If you boil everything on your page — all the images, video, copy, etc. — down to simple words and phrases, those are your primary keywords. Your Pinterest Profile will be the first place you will be incorporating keywords that best describe your art business.

Places to add keywords to your Pinterest profile:

  • Business name
  • Description

How to Create A Pinterest Profile for Your Art Business Checklist:

Confirm Your Website – This will allow you to access Pinterest analytics relating to your site.

Business Profile – If you are planning on marketing your business on Pinterest you will have to set up a Pinterest Business Account. It is free to set up and will only take a few minutes to complete.
