When I started selling my artwork on eBay over 15 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing.
All I knew was that I wanted to sell my art and I thought at the time that selling art online would be a great way to get started.
The problem I faced was that I did not know anyone personally who could help me.
I noticed people selling art on eBay and I wanted to give it a try. At that time, I didn’t know much about computers. I knew how to check my AOL email, play card games and to do a search online, that was it.
The first couple of months was the toughest.
I searched endlessly online for information that would help me.
Because I didn’t know anything about selling products online or on eBay the articles I was reading was like reading a foreign language. I just couldn’t seem to understand what I was reading.
But I kept at it and to make a long story short, within two years I had a website built for my artwork (at that time it was difficult to build websites without knowing the code. Today you can create a WordPress site in minutes.) and I was generating over 6 figures a year.
Why was I so successful?
Many people ask me how I did it.
I am not the best artist in the world.
I was not an online marketing expert at the time.
I struggled with writing art descriptions.
The only reason I reached my goals was that I never doubted myself and I never gave up.
When a plan did not work for me, I learned from the situation. I would not feel like I failed. I just knew that the strategy I tried did not produce the results I wanted so I discarded it and tried something else.
Build A Successful Art Blog
What happens when you do not believe in yourself?
The answer is simple. You will not reach your goals and others will not believe in you either.
As a beginner, you might doubt yourself and this is common.
You will question everything you do and you will become discouraged when a plan does not produce the results you were hoping for.
These feelings are normal and it will happen to everyone in the beginning.
However, if you would like to build a successful art blog, you will have to believe in yourself as an artist and as a business person.
When you doubt yourself, you are showing the world you are not confident in what you are doing, and they will not believe in you or your words.
If you do not believe in yourself why would someone else believe in what you are saying?
It will take time to feel confident about your decisions.
You will need to stop thinking about negative thoughts and fight doubtful questions with true facts.
If something does not work, learn from it and try a different plan. Everything you do is a learning experience.
