SumoMe
I first heard about SumoMe on Michael Stelzer’s podcast the Social Media Marketing Podcast. This plugin caught my attention because it offers so much more than just email opt-in forms.
Here are some of the features that SumoMe has to offer, Buy Button, Google Analytics, List Builder, Welcome Mat, Scroll Box, Content Analytics, Image Share, Smart Bar, Highlighter, and a Contact Form.
SumoMe’s pricing plans range from a free basic plan to a five-tier program.
The basic plan allows you to use all the apps on your site. The other tiers that are available offer Pro Incites, A/B Testing, Advanced Displayed Rule, Full Section or Pro Templates, VIP Support, Integrations, Enterprise Integrations, and Live Optimizations.
Magic Action Box
Magic Action Box is another free plugin that I use for my email opt-in forms. It is a well know plugin with over 10,000 active installs.
Some of the features are:
- Add an action box after or before a post.
- Add horizontal opt-in forms for homepage or header.
- Customize opt-in forms for the sidebar.
- Create email opt-in forms
- Customize box forms.
Magic Action Box also has a pro version with additional features that will allow you to create sales boxes, share boxes and more.
MailChimp For WordPress
If you are using MailChimp for your email service, MailChimp for WordPress is a free plugin you will want to consider using. MailChimp is a popular plugin in with over 600,000 active users. You will be able to create an attractive opt-in form or integrate it with your comment, contact, or checkout forms. You can connect your plugin to your MailChimp account, and opt-ins will directly go to your mailing list.
Bloom
The Bloom email opt-in plugin is from Elegant Themes. Bloom integrates with the most popular email services such as MailChimp, AWeber, Infusion Soft, Constant Contact, Emma and more.
Bloom makes it easy to add an opt-in form to the widget area with a Bloom widget. All you have to do is drag and drop the Bloom widget to where you would like the opt-in to be displayed.
You will be able to display an opt-in form at the end of your content as well as display automatic pop-ups. Keep in mind that Google will lower your Page Ranks with obtrusive pop-ups.
Best Practice
You can easily become overwhelmed with all the plugins available for email opt-ins.
Start by looking for email opt-ins that will support your email service and are easy to use.
Read the reviews to see if there are any issues people are having with the plugin. Make sure the plugin is regularly updated.
Look to see how many active users are using the plugin. This information will help you to make a better decision.
A best practice is to start with free plugins.
There are so many great plugins available that do not cost a cent. Become familiar with the features.
If later down the line you find that you need something more powerful a paid plugin might be better for you. At that point, you will have a better understanding of what features you are looking for.
The best way to obtain email addresses is by providing quality content that your reader is interested in and make it convenient for them to opt-in.
Have an opt-in form available after your content and above the fold. Your audience will not spend the time searching for your opt-in, you have to make it convenient for them.
Let your audience know what they should expect if they sign up for your newsletter.
What content will you be providing?
How often will you be sending emails?
You will have a better chance of someone giving you their personal email if you are upfront and tell them exactly what will be delivered to their inbox.
Conclusion:
This will be a great start for you to start finding the perfect email opt-in plugin for your art blog.
