Day 5 Blogging Challenge – Reach Out to Other Bloggers

Today we are going to continue to build your audience. This task is very simple and will not take you long at all to accomplish. The benefits will greatly outweigh the time spent.

Benefits

Blogs receive little traffic in the beginning because it takes time to gain enough authority to be indexed by search engines. Sharing your posts on social media and commenting on other blogs is a great way for you to increase your traffic in the early days.

Here are a few more ways you will benefit from commenting on other posts.

Backlinks

You will create a backlink to your blog if you comment on other blogs as long as you provide your blog URL to the comment. A backlink is an incoming hyperlink from a different web page to your website.

Most comment forms have a specific space for you to include your name, email and website address.

Build Brand Awareness

Commenting on other blog posts will help you to build brand awareness. When you comment on a post, the author will take notice of you. If you provide value to the post the author will want to learn more about you and will be more willing to visit and comment on your posts as well.

Many people who visit blog posts like to read the comments left. If the comment you provide is valuable, you will have a good chance that someone will click on your link and visit your site.

Build Relations

Another reason for you to comment on blog posts is to establish relations with other bloggers. It does take a while to build trust, but in time the author will start to get to know you and can prove to be very beneficial for your future.

Bloggers are just like you. It makes them feel good when people show an interest in what they write. Be honest and thoughtful with your comments.  Just writing, “Great post.” will provide no value to you or the writer. In time your name will become familiar to the writer, and they will want to learn more about you. Building relations is beneficial to both parties.

Today’s Action Plan

Take a few minutes and visit your favorite blogs. You should already have a list of your favorite artist blogs from when you researched your niche.

Read a few posts that you are interested in and provide some feedback to their posts.

Before you start writing, read what others have said. You do not want to repeat a comment. You want your comment to stand out and be unique.

Best Practices:

  • Provide value to the post by asking a question or sharing your view on a particular topic.
  • Do not promote your brand or your blog. Your goal is to build relations and brand awareness.
  • Do not include links in the comment section unless it supports your thoughts. There will be a place for you to add your blog or website URL on most comment forms.
  • Do not spam blog posts. Comment on topics you are interested in.
  • Do not contradict the writer. It is better to ask questions rather than to say, “Your wrong.” You might not agree with everything someone has to say, and that is ok, just do not insult them on their platform. The goal is to build relations and respect.

Extra

You will see better results when you provide comments on a regular schedule.

Create a list of blogs you like. The list should contain the blog name, URL and what posts you commented on.

Take ten or fifteen minutes out of your day and engage on their blog posts.

In time you will see the benefits of your efforts. Your traffic will start to increase, and you will be building brand awareness. You will have a good chance of becoming friends with your favorite bloggers, and more often than not they will be more than happy to help you grow your business.
