YouTube
I am sure that you have heard of YouTube. YouTube is a site where people can share and watch videos. YouTube was launched in 2005 and has grown to over a billion users.
That is about one-third of internet users. There are over 4 billion videos watched daily, and the number is growing every year.
Videos are not just popular on YouTube. In fact, they are becoming more popular on Facebook, Vine, Pinterest, and Instagram.
You can target a larger audience with creative videos.
How long should videos be?
Shorter videos tend to rank better than longer videos. This is due to a number of factors.
People are busy. They can watch videos on their model device when they do not have a lot of time to spare. That is one reason that shorter videos perform better than longer videos.
Another reason is that people’s attention spans are becoming shorter. We are living in a fast past world so the best practice is to respect your audience’s time.
This does not mean longer videos will not show positive results.
You might want to consider building a following on YouTube before you start to create longer videos.
Does that mean you have to create short videos?
I think the perfect length for a video is when you are done saying what you were trying to say. You do not want to make a two-minute video into a five-minute video just to make it longer. You will lose the viewers interest if you are just adding filler words. Say what you have to say and end the video.
If you have a large amount of content that you want to share then, the video will need to be longer. You do not want to jeopardize the content just to create a shorter video.
You might want to create short, medium and long videos to attract a wider group of people. If someone likes your shorter videos, they will make the time to watch your longer videos. That is how you can build your art presence with videos.
How much will it cost to create a video?
You might be surprised at what I am going to tell you. The cost to make a video for YouTube is your time. It does not cost a penny if you have a Smart Phone and internet connection. (Of course, you will have to pay for your Smart Phone and internet connection, but you probably already have that.)
To get started your Smart Phone will do. Smart Phones take great videos, and the sound quality is not bad. You can even upload the video from your Smart Phone directly to YouTube.
There are tools that you can get in the future if you enjoy making videos but at first, take out your Smart Phone and start making videos that will attract your target audience.
