There is a significant amount of information online when it comes to developing a thriving Pinterest Business account.

It is easy to become overwhelmed and puzzled with all of the various techniques you read.

This is why I put together a list of my favorite Pinterest marketing methods used by some of the best Pinners on Pinterest.

I have executed each strategy that I am going to address in this post.

However, I do want to mention that not every strategy will generate the same results for everyone.

Every artist has a unique artistic style and different art business goals. What works for one artist might not work for another.

Try them out to discover what works best for you and your art business goals.

If a strategy is effective, keep using that strategy.

Discard and strategies that are not producing the results you are hoping for.

Below are some of the best selling on Pinterest strategies artists are using every day.

Why Should You Start Selling On Pinterest

What started as a platform for finding new recipes and DIY ideas has turned into a significant shopping search engine. 89% of US pinners use Pinterest to research purchasing decisions. (Source: SproutSocial)

Pinterest receives over 320 million monthly active users, that is a lot of people hanging out on Pinterest searching for products to buy.

Just about half of all users are visiting Pinterest just to shop.  That’s about 150 million potential unique art collecters buying your artwork and giclee prints.

You can easily understand why so many artists are promoting their artwork on Pinterest.

Before You Start Selling On Pinterest

I know that you are enthusiastic about the probability of profiting from all of those prospects on Pinterest. But before you take any action, you will need to write down your objectives for selling on Pinterest.

It is essential for you to have a clear vision of your goals so you can develop an actionable Pinterest marketing plan.

Social Sharing Tools

Next, I would like to briefly talk about some social sharing tools that have helped me to grow my Pinterest account to where it is today.

There are numerous social sharing tools out there to help make your art marketing plan more productive.

I discovered two Pinterest tools that have helped me improve my Pinterest Business account a lot quicker than I could have ever imagined.

The first tool I discovered was Social Warfare.

Social Warfare is a social sharing plugin for WordPress that allows you to hide social media images that will be posted on people’s social media newsfeeds when they share your posts.

This feature makes it easier to brand your business instead of images being posted from your posts that do not reflect your business.

You will have total control of what pictures are shared on other people’s newsfeed and what text will be included in the post.

Simply create a 2:3 aspect ratio like 1000 x 1500 image in Canva, upload the image at the end of your WordPress editor, and write a keyword-rich description with hashtags.

Every time a reader pins your post, the image and description will be pinned to the reader’s Pinterest board.

For more information visit How to Hide Pinterest Images in Blog Posts with Social Warfare.

Here is an example of a post I wrote that has been shared on Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter over 20,000 times since I started using Social Warfare and Tailwind.

Art That Sells – What Artists Need to Know

I wrote this post years ago and it is still driving a large amount of traffic to my site every month.

The next tool I am so excited that I have learned about is Tailwind.

Selling On Pinterest

Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduling tool that also includes Smart Scheduling, Analytics & Monitoring, Content Discovery, Tribes, Hashtag Suggestions, and so much more.

If you are interested in saving a large amount of time scheduling on Pinterest and Instagram, Tailwind is the perfect scheduling tool for you.

Tailwind also has a Smart Scheduling feature that shows you when the best time is to pin your content on Pinterest so your pins will receive the most views and engagement.

The Analytics will tell you what is working for you and what is not working for you.

The goal is to publish content that your fans are interested in reading, and Tailwind’s analytics will provide that valuable information for you.

Pin Multiple Times Throughout The Day

There are many opinions on how many times one should pin for the optimum results. The one tactic almost everyone can agree on is that you will see greater results by pinning numerous times throughout the day.

You will read that some people see the best success when they pin ten times a day while others benefit more by pinning 30 – 40 times a day.

I encourage you to start with 3 – 10 pins a day for a week. After a couple of weeks, go to Tailwinds analytics to review the results.

Try pinning more or less to see what works best for you.

At this point, you will probably be saying to yourself that you do not have enough time to visit Pinterest numerous times a day.

This is where Tailwind comes into play. I found it challenging and time-consuming to log into Pinterest several times throughout the day.

I started to become frustrated because I knew that I had to pin throughout the day, but I could not find the time, then a prior told me about Tailwind.

Now I only spend a few minutes scheduling Pinterest pins for an entire week.

Once a week, I browse Tailwind to evaluate my analytics and schedule pins for the upcoming week.

Keep in mind that Pinterest can close your account if you are pinning the same content too many times.

Tailwind also monitors how many times you are pinning duplicate contend and will tell you if you are in danger of going against Pinterest’s policies.

Selling art online takes a great deal of work and effort. You can save a great deal of time and energy bu utilizing tools that are available to you.

Wouldn’t you rather be creating art in the studio than visiting Pinterest several hours throughout the day?

Pin Other People’s Material

Why should you pin other people’s content on your business boards?

The first reason is that you should be pinning throughout the day. There will be times when you do not have any content to publish, so it will be better for you to pin other people’s content than no content at all.

Frequent pinning helps people to discover your Pinterest account.

You can easily fill in the empty holes with other people’s content.

Another reason is that you want to be seen as an authority in your niche.

Pinning other content that correlates to your artist brand will help to support up your opinions, which will build trust with your readers.

The last reason you should pin other people’s content is that it is an excellent way to connect and network with other experts in your field.

Optimize Your Pin Descriptions For Search

Pinterest is a search engine that suggests pins to people by the keywords they type in the Pinterest search bar, similar to Yahoo, Bing, and Google.

Be sure to use keywords in the description of your pins

The keywords you use will help Pinterest to understand what your content is about so they can refer it to the right people.

Every day people are searching for home décor, products, fine art, and different décor ideas on Pinterest.

Using the right keywords will help to have your pins on the top of Pinterest’s search results.

There are many ways you can discover what words people are using for search, but I found that Keysearch provides the most accurate keywords and analytics.

keyword research

Simply type in a few words that describe what your post is about into KeySearch, and a list of related keywords that people are using in the search will appear on the left.

KeySearch takes the guesswork out of coming up with effective keywords.

Keyword Optimize And Pinterest Boards

Your profile and Pinterest boards are also searchable.

If you want people to discover your boards, give them titles that people are most likely to search for.

Write a keyword-rich description for each board. The description of the boards will explain to the readers what they can expect when they click on them.

You can also use KeySearch to help you discover the best keywords for your pinterest boards.

Be Consistent With Your Pinterest Strategy

It takes time to see results from Pinterest.

Keep in mind that everything you pin will be searchable.
So what you pin today can be discovered a year from now, five years from now, and so on.

Even though you might not see results for the first couple of months, keep at it.

All of your efforts will be paid off.
