Do you dream of being an artist? Maybe you would like to have your art showcased in galleries or make enough money from your art to support your family. Your artistic dreams can come true if you believe in yourself.
Your Artist Dreams Can Come True
Every successful person shares these two qualities. They all dream, and they are also realistic with their goals.
Dream Big
I believe in dreaming big. The bigger, the better. If you want to sell one hundred pieces of artwork a year, dream that you can do it.
If you want to become a full-time artist earning enough income to support your family, imagine that it will happen.
Someone had an idea that man would walk on the moon. Before there was a step on the moon, I am sure it was thought to be impossible.
Someone had a dream that people would be able to fly like birds. Now people are traveling by plane around the world.
Someone had an idea of creating the “Happiest Place on Earth.” Now families worldwide are enjoying the “Happiest Place on Earth” at Disney Land.
These dreams were larger than life, but they all became a reality.
Why did the dreams become a reality?
These dreams and any vision accomplished were done so because the person or persons who had the dream believed in their dreams. It did not matter how out of reach their vision was. They believed that it was possible.
Have Realistic Dreams
You have to be realistic with your dreams. This might sound contradictory, but it is not.
Dreams become a reality by understanding your strengths, and weaknesses and being able to design a strategy that will guide you to your destination.
Let’s use the example of a person who wants to sell one hundred pieces of artwork.
Meet Mrs. Rose.
Mrs. Rose is a young lady in her early thirties, filled with energy and happiness. She has two beautiful children and a loving husband. Art has been a passion for her ever since she could hold a pencil.
As a child, she always had a coloring book, pad, and pen in her hand. She enjoyed having alone time. During her alone time, she was always creating art and daydreaming. She had a beautiful imagination.
Today you could say that Mrs. Rose has everything a young woman dreams of. She has a beautiful family, a perfect marriage, and a warm, loving home. However, there is one thing that she is missing in her life. To make her life a fairytale, all she would need is to become a successful artist. She dreams of that every day.
Mrs. Rose knows that if she could sell one hundred pieces of art a year, she could make that her full-time career. Her artwork is breathtaking. The way that she uses color and light attracts everyone’s attention. If she could market her artwork correctly, she could quickly sell over a hundred pieces in a year.
The reality.
Mrs. Rose paints large paintings of flowers. Her schedule takes her about two weeks to accomplish a painting. Her job, children, and husband take up the majority of her time. She does, however, find enough time to complete a new piece every two weeks.
If she can only create 25 pieces of art in a year, she would not be able to achieve her goal of selling one hundred paintings in a year.
She does not have to say that her dream is impossible. It is very possible. It just cannot be accomplished today. She will need to develop a plan to guide her to her final vision.
One day Mrs. Rose had an idea. She realized that if she could paint smaller paintings, they would take her less time to complete. She starts experimenting with smaller paintings and found the perfect size to work with. She is now able to accomplish four paintings every two weeks. She also knows that the more time she spends working on the new smaller sizes, the faster she will become.
With the new smaller paintings, she can now produce 104 paintings in a year. She did it. She reached her 100 paintings a year goal.
The reality.
The paintings are smaller so she will have to charge less for each. The amount of income would not be enough for her to become a full-time artist.
How can she make this work?
There are many ways to make revenue for being an artist.
Here are some examples of how Mrs. Rose can supplement her income:
- Sell prints of her originals.
- Teach art classes.
- Generate income from her blog with affiliate links and AdSense.
- Create a YouTube Channel and monetize it.
- Write painting tutorial eBooks.
You can see that by thinking outside of the box, Mrs. Rose’s dreams can come true. With vision and realistic strategies, anything is possible.
When Mrs. Rose becomes a full-time artist, she will have more time to create more art. The more art that she creates will increase her income. She will also have a chance to strategize on different ways to generate more revenue.
Conclusion:
Do not let anyone tell you that dreams do not come true. Live your dreams, work hard, and be patient. Before you know it you will reach your goals. Your artist’s dreams can come true.
