Are you becoming discouraged by the lack of art sales you are receiving? Do you feel like you are spinning your wheels and not going anywhere? Do you find it difficult to stay on track? In this post, you will discover how to stay in control of your art career journey.

Your Art Career Journey – How To Achieve Your Goals

Your art career journey will be filled with exciting highs that will have you want to do the happy dance and overwhelming lows that will have you asking yourself, “Am I cut out for this?“.

It is important to stay focused and not allow yourself to get derailed from your end game.

The recipe for success is:

  • Work hard
  • Be patient
  • Be willing to learn
  • Accept change

If you are missing any of the key ingredients outlined above or take shortcuts you will miss out on some possibilities that could lead to significant rewards.

Commit To Your Art Journey

Your art career journey all started with just a dream. The endless hours you spent enhancing your artistic skills and finding your unique voice has brought you to where you are today.

You are now ready to move on to the next chapter, selling your artwork.

This is the point where many artists lose sight of their original dream of becoming an artist. Selling art is hard work and if you are not fully committed you will not be satisfied with the outcome.

Accepting the long hours needed for learning how to operate and maintain a business is tough for many people.

I have to tell you that there are no shortcuts. If anyone tells you selling art is easy they are simply misleading you.

However, if you are willing to roll up your sleeves and you are prepared to put in the time, you can reach your goals.

Art Career Journey Obstacles

There will be some difficult times you will be encountered while you are selling your artwork.

Here are some struggles you might face:

  • Rejection
  • Criticism
  • Anxiety
  • Inconsistent income flow
  • Inconsistent opportunities
  • Lack of recognition
  • Self-doubt about your artistic skills and business skills
  • Afraid to make bold moves and decisions
  • Impatient with the growth of your business
  • Feeling overwhelmed

You will face all of these feelings at one point of your journey and they are not pleasant.

What separates successful artists and the other artists you will never see again is the ability to overcome these obstacles.

You can not afford to waste time dwelling on these emotions. Find different ways to get past these struggles and move forward. Your art business depends on it.

Art Career Journey Rewards

With every negative, there is a positive. You are going to have days you struggle and you are going to have days where you will be doing the happy dance.

Here are some rewarding feelings you will endure during your journey:

  • Acceptance by other artists, critics, and your audience
  • Knowing you are doing the right thing
  • Building relationships with your audience (your tribe)
  • Recognition
  • Passion for what you do
  • A sense of pride in working towards your dreams

How To Achieve Your Goals

The first step is just starting.

Have a clear vision for what you want and just go for it.

The second step is to learn how to deal with all of the negative emotions you will face.

The third and most important step is to learn from your mistakes and revise your strategies.

There is no manual that will guarantee success.

You will need to try different strategies and discover what resonates best with your audience.

Conclusion:

You will face many emotions during your art career journey.

The question is, “Will you be strong enough to get through all of the challenges that will arise?”

Believe in yourself, and do not let the lows overpower you. The positives will always outweigh the negatives.
