5 Reasons Artists Should Blog

There are many reasons artists should blog.

If you are interested in selling art online, you will have to find a way to have your art noticed by people who are interested in your artistic style. This can be done by developing a content marketing strategy that will attract your target audience.

Reasons Artists Should Blog

When artists hire me to help them build their art business, the first thing I ask them is “Do you have a blog?”

That is the first question.

At this point, I am not concerned about what style of art they create. There is an audience for every artist. Art that sells is art that has been seen by the right person.

Of course, there are other areas you will have to be concerned about like:

Best Cameras to photograph your art.

How to photograph your art.

Places you can sell your art online.

How to price your art.

and so on…..

But none of that information will help you to sell your art if the right person does not see your art. You need to create a digital content marketing strategy that will drive traffic to your art listings.

5 Reasons Artists Should Blog

Here are 5 reasons artists should blog. I am sure that once you have finished reading this post you will be motivated and inspired to start an artist blog today.

If you are not motivated that tells me you are not interested in selling your artwork online.

Share Your Art Blogging

The first of many reasons artists should blog is that you will have a platform where people can visit and see all of your creations.

Art will not sell if it is never seen.

It would be like putting your latest artwork in your closet and wondering why no one has purchased it.

People have to see your art and your blog will be the tool that will generate traffic to your art listings.

Even if you are selling your art on Etsy you will still need to promote your art and build an audience.

Your blog will not only allow you to tell the story behind your art but it will also attract the people who are interested in your artistic style. People are searching online for art just like yours. Those people will be able to find you as long as you are writing blog posts with keywords that describe your art. If you are not publishing posts, the people who are searching for art online will find the artists who are posting blog posts about their artwork.

Blogging Helps You to Promote Your Art

So many artists get discouraged because they have their art listed for sale on a third-party site and they are not selling anything. The reason is that they are not doing anything to promote their art.

If you do not let people know your art is for sale, it will only be a bunch of beautiful images that might never be seen.

Many artists do not feel comfortable posting their art and I understand what they are saying. You do not want to feel pushy.

The good news is that blogging allows you to promote your art without you feeling like you are a salesperson.

Your blog will give you an opportunity to write about a new piece of art you have just finished.

You can tell the story behind your creation.

You can write about what inspired you to create the art.

This allows you to connect people with your artwork and make them aware that it is available to purchase.

Blogs Connect You With Potential Buyers

Your blog will help you to connect with new potential buyers.

Besides people finding your art blog in the search engines, you are providing a place where your tribe can send their friends and family.

Your tribe is people who have purchased your art in the past and like it so much they tell everyone about you.

Referrals are important for artists.

This is how it works:

Someone sees your art being displayed in someones home. They ask about it and their friend tells them your name and writes down your blog on a piece of paper.

Sometime down the line, the person interested in your art will look you up online.

They will start to feel connected with you via the content you are writing. A special piece of art you have showcased on your blog will catch their attention and they will make a purchase. This is how you will be able to build an online following.

Blogs Build Authority

Your blog will allow you to be seen as an expert in your field.

People will be able to learn more about you and your values as an artist. They will begin to trust you and feel as if they know you without even meeting you in person.

This is very important especially if you want them to purchase a high ticket item from you online.

Blogs Connect You With Influencers

Most people who blog are very willing to help each other succeed.

You will an opportunity to find and build relationships with other artists and influencers.

Building relationships with other bloggers is a great way for you to build an audience quicker.

They will have suggestions to help you grow your business and you will be able to do the same for them.
