Do you feel overwhelmed at times?  Do you feel like you are always worrying about your art sales? In this post, I am going to share with you 4 stress management tips that help me get through my busy days.

4 Stress Management Tips

You started an art business because you have a passion for creating art. When you are in the studio, you feel relaxed and energized because you are in the creative zone. You might not have realized all of the stress that operating an art business can cause. Stress management can help you reduce the stress resulting from everyday life and managing a business.

Here are just a few health complications associated with stress:

  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Headaches
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

I wanted to go over this topic with you because I believe that it is imperative to reduce stress for your art business to be successful. If your mind and body are healthy, your business will be healthy.

Exercise

Exercise plays a significant role in stress management. Exercise does not mean you have to spend hours in the gym. Any physical activity will help reduce stress. Your body releases endorphins when you engage in physical activity. These endorphins make you feel good and give you a boost.

Best results occur when you increase your heart rate. This can be done with many activities. You want to find what is best for you and something that you enjoy doing. It could be dancing, swimming, walking the dog and gardening. The list goes on and on.

Start off slow and build up to 30 minutes of physical activity a day. The 30 minutes can be done all at once or split into smaller segments if it fits your schedule better. Just try to get in at least 30 minutes a day. You will feel more energetic, and you will burn your stress away.

Before starting any physical activity consult with your primary physician first.

Deep Breathing/Meditation

When you feel like stress is creeping up on you, take slow deep breaths.  Inhale slowly through your nose and exhale slowly out your mouth. Repeat this several times. You will feel the stress leave your body, and you will be able to perform better and make better decisions.

Meditation is also a great stress reliever. If meditating does not fit into your schedule, practice the deep breathing. You can do that anywhere.

Prevent Stress

Dealing with the stress that is already in your life is important. Preventing stress is equally important. There are many ways to reduce stress in your life.

One way to reduce stress in your life is to create a schedule. This stress management tip will not only help you reduce stress in your everyday lives but also at your work. By having a schedule you know what has to get done and what it will take to get it done. There is no thinking involved. When there is no schedule, important things get forgotten. This causes stress that could have been prevented.

Scheduling daily household chores is also an excellent way to prevent stress. Instead of putting things off, set up a schedule and get it done. This will prevent things from piling up and causing stress when you realize that you are in over your head.

Avoid Stress

There are many ways you can avoid stress. Some situations you will need to address, but there are others that you can avoid.

It is ok to say “no.” By knowing your schedule, you will be able to determine if you can take on another task or if it is unrealistic. If it is unrealistic, you should say no to that job and fit it in when it is appropriate. Distinguish the difference between priority tasks and minor tasks.

Avoid negative people. Negative people can bring your spirits down and create stress for you. Not only will you be dealing with your daily stresses but they will pile theirs on you too. Positive people will bring your spirits up and keep you energized.

Avoid stressful things that you have control of. If the news creates anxiety, don’t watch it. If the stock market gives you, anxieties do not check the market every day. Your money will be in there if you look at it or not. If traveling in heavy traffic creates a stress, take a different route. It might take you longer to get to your destination, but your health and well-being are worth the extra time. There are many things that you have control of that will help you reduce stress in your life.

There are much more stress management tips to incorporate into your life. By starting with these four tips, you will be learning how to reduce unnecessary stress in your life.

Conclusion:

Start taking care of you first. Take time out of the day to take care of your mind and body. After doing this for about a month you will start to feel like a new person.
