Art Marketing Basics – Master One Thing At A Time
Creating an online presence will be your primary focus while you have your business. The longer that you have your business, the easier it will be for you to become derailed and overwhelmed. There are many ways that you can market your brand online. With so many choices it is easy for an artist to jump around not putting in the effort needed for any of them to work.
Technology has made it easy for an artist to get noticed and sell their art. Not too long ago you would have to spend a small fortune on a web designer. I did that with my first online art business. I am lucky that it paid off. Many people were not as fortunate.
Today you can build a website within minutes, thanks to platforms such as WordPress. Even people that are not computer savvy can design a beautiful internet site.
Instead of building your brand awareness with paid advertisements like I did in the past you can now build your brand awareness for free with social media sites. You can join groups for your niche and meet other people that share the same interest that you do. Most social media platforms allow you to private message individual people.
Videos are a great way for you to build your brand awareness. YouTube is the second largest search engine and has 1 billion users. It has been reported that people are watching hundreds of millions of hours of videos a day.

You also have podcasts, eBooks, online tutorials, online classes, blogs, print on demand services and the list goes on.
As you can see, there are many ways for an artist to build their online presence. With so many options available it can become overwhelming and distracting. If you are not careful, you could find yourself wasting lots of time and getting nothing in return.
There are two areas that you will want to focus on first. You will want to build an online gallery that will showcase your artwork and allow people to purchase your work. Your artist website will be the nucleus of your business, and this is where you will want to drive all of your traffic to.
The next area that you will want to focus on is creating content to drive traffic to your site. You can do this by starting a blog. Your blog will be a journal of your art career. The more content you create, the better the chances will be for people to find you. For example, if you write one article, there will be only one way for people to discover you. If you write ten posts, you will have ten ways people will be able to find you in the search engines. You can see where this is going. The more article that you write, the more doors there will be for people to go in.
